Since my dear friend is mad at me for delaying my tantruming until next week, I decided to give her the other thing she has been asking for, a photo of me (after losing 107 pounds) in the sleeping bag coat.
Big change, right? Especially when paired with boots that must weigh 5 pounds each (although they are perfectly warm) and a Kid Silk Haze schmatta. Oh, and I have the waist of the coat pulled in by about 6 inches too.
This is my go to outfit for the walk to the corner for Miss S. (it is a wonder that the bus driver gives her to me, really) and it was the outfit that almost did me in when I walked that beagle the other day and had to bend over to pick up her deposit, because that coat does not bend.
The entire outfit is rated to 40 below and since we are in the middle of a very cold snap, it does keep me warm. I have also found out that most of my local friends own such a coat and I have been advised to never wear it in a car since it is impossible to get out of a car wearing so much nylon and down.
Anyways, the cold will last a few more days and that coat may last forever.
In other news, I finished chemo yesterday, but they want to see me in two weeks. They also told me to expect the fatigue to last another 8-12 weeks as the meds work their way through my system. I was hoping to perk up sooner, but it's not so bad.
Griffin is almost done with midterm exams, but he is battling a horrible cold. Connor seems to have something similair and has an important interview tomorrow. I'm hoping that they both shake it.
Phoebe is back in Michigan and I'm sewing buttons on that sweater today. I also started another (possibly doomed) sweater and bought yarn for a simple cardi with a great cabled band and no buttons.
When I stopped in the yarn shop, the owner was shocked to see so much less of me, probably because I took my (shorter, prettier) coat off. The last couple of pounds have made a dramatic change in my appearance, I think (I don't see it but the tape measure and my jeans show it) I'm pondering it all.
Sweater photos soon!
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!
That schmatta does not go with that. At all. I don't care what you think. Also... where's your snorkel? That outfit NEEDS a snorkel and maybe flippers. *L*

Oooolala! Wearing that heavy weight outfit will help you build muscle better than weight training.

You're looking good! I don't care what Cookie says. She doesn't know winter fashion! (But don't tell her I said that!) ;)

Ignore Cookie. Warm goes with everything.
Are you wee tiny short or do you have really big doors? Cuz I always pictured you as Quite Tall.
I'm feeling like if I have to bend over to pick anything up these days, it's not worth picking up and it can stay there.

Joan, you are ROCKING that sleeping-bag coat!!! (And anyone that can look thin in a sleeping-bag coat is Really Thin!) Congratulations on finishing chemo. The energy will come back. (Slower than we'd like, but it will return!) And congratulations on the weight loss. What a gift to yourself. Stay warm, m'dear!

It's a perfectly stylish outfit for someone who lives where "warm" in January is any day the temps reach double digits. Frankly, I sort of want that coat now.

Is that really you, Joan? I can't be sure;-p

Love the photo!
I agree with Kym - I don't know how anyone can look so slender in a sleeping bag.
Happy Dance for the end of chemo!

The only person who can wear a sleeping bag coat w/o looking elephantine is a person who has lost 100 pounds. You are officially in That Club.
Yeah, you look a tad silly. otoh, you also look quite warm and intelligent. (Only intelligent people who know how to stay warm survive these northern winters.)

Pretty sexy! And warm.

The detail that kills me is the position of your left arm... sassy! You are WORKING that duvet!

Where are you in that photo?
Looking forward to this week's warmer weather & don't forget your cell phone in case you fall down in that coat and can't get up because it won't bend.

This picture of you reminds me of a young girl heading out to wait at the school bus stop. So cute!
Hooray for finishing chemo and that you are on your way to feeling less fatigued. xo
