but, trust me, it will look great on the person I'm sending it to:
(pattern: Plaited Tam, yarn: Tuscan Grove Bellagio in Cornucopia)
I've also started to knit the next one:
It's Autumn Vines in some STR medium weight from the now reorganized stash closet.
And thanks to a few hours taming the mess that that closet had become, I've lined up enough yarn for 5-6 more hats. Let's hope I don't tire of hat knitting before I run through the yarn.
Cleaning the closet (it was sort of foisted on me because Griffin had his BFF Patrick! over and if I try to work on either the drumcarder of the wheel, our Patrick! can not keep a safe distance from the fluff) was very satisfying. My stash has never been so organized.
This must be because I have not purchased yarn in over a year. I may keep this up for awhile - just knit what I have and see how it goes. But I do have an itch for some colorwork - buying a few new colors of Spindrift wouldn't be the end of the world.
In other news, my heart was all over the place this weekend. In happy ways. Part of it was with my dear friends in Arizona and part of it was with Connor as he volunteered to help run the Relay for Life at his school.
I have a lot of ambivalence about some cancer charities (especially after the past week) but this event that promotes memory and surviorship is a good one. Connor had an emotional time with some of it and sent me sweet text messages at midnight. I woke up today to his tweets about being unable to do the limbo and a photo of him after 24 hours without sleep.
It's all good, very good.
The hat is beautiful, but then so is Connor, inside and out.

That hat isn't too bright and the colours DO look like Mardi Gras.. who came up with that? :D
The very few photos I've seen so far of Carrie and Temple are beautiful, her dress is so very lovely, well done dear Joan!
Connor... he's absolutely filthy with the fabulous and wonderful!
Yay for an organized stash!! I desperately need to do that.

The hat is NOT loud. It's cheery. And, I'm so glad it's good. You do NOT need anything else.

So nice to have a closet organized, isn't it? Do you keep opening it up. . . just to look at it again??? (Connor is so wonderful!)

That first hat looks just like a King Cake! You should tuck in a little plastic baby before giving it to it's recipient. Love it!

I love the hat, i don't think it is loud and would have no problem putting it on my head:-)

At least, they'll be able to find her when she falls into a snowdrift while wearing that hat. ;^)
Wanna come over and deal with the Closet of Doom?

Cute hat.
Ah, the heartbreak of being unable to limbo. It sounds like he had fun while doing a good thing.

It sounds like the match is perfect, and it is a lovely hat! The start of the new hat is beautiful. Enjoy the reorganization!
