I have been busy - busy. We've had weather - snow a few days ago, followed by rain, followed by crazy garbage blowing winds - all of which have come with gray skies.
I am working on more than one project, have been trying to get up to speed on my new drum carder* and to cope/retreat, I have been spinning.
But:
There is no fixing that driveband and there is not enough driveband string on the spool on the shelf** to cut a new one.
I doubt that any place on the island, that is open past 5, sells what I need. I will have to wait until tomorrow when I stop by the bank with some paperwork they called to about***.
I could try crochet cotton or something, but that never works for me. Sigh.
Anyways, the fiber is Merino/Tencel that I'm thinking about adding to the shop eventually. It spins fast, maybe so fast that it destroyed that driveband.
Maybe I should be knitting?
* A electric drum carder which meant adding another outlet to the fiber studio, plus more lighting and another awkward conversation where I ask Jim what I owe him, he shrugs his shoulders and I have to slap a stack of cash on the counter.
** I went through an entire spool of it when I sold my Matchless**** a few months ago and then asked Jim to pick me up another spool from the H. Depot and he bought the wrong stuff.
*** I could hear the bank lady wondering what the heck a cupcake with extra fiber tasted like.
**** I got the call last week that the new Matchless is shipping soon!
I wanna be a fly on the wall when you tell the bank lady that cupcakes are not for eating! LOL!

I hope your weather settles into something nicer for you.
Are you finding the electric drum carding experience to be more challenging? I am very curious about drum carding.
Ack! I have tried crochet cotton, too, and it did not work well for me, either. What is your preferred driveband string?
I'm very interested in merino/tencel batts that you would make.

I use something that's plasticky and a little springy, and if/when it breaks I melt the ends back together. I haven't completely changed out a drive band in years.

Stop being proud and just use sock yarn.

I hope your weather evens out, even if I am jealous that you're actually having winter.
The spinning stuff? Not a clue.

Hope the spinning calmed down. Wish you could have gotten a picture of the faces at the bank while explaining about fiber cupcakes. Oh well.

ruh roh, the drive band, and yes, what DO you get from the HD?
I'm glad to hear Winter is out there for someone, but I do wish it'd ease up/make up its mind for you.

My last driveband lasted for days longer than I thought it would, though it got quite flippity towards the end.
I think the expression on the bank ladies' faces would be even more interesting if you brought them in a box of your cupcakes...
