I will spare you a photo of the latest snow fall. It looks and feels much the same as nearly every other day since our winter began - blizzardy and cold.
Gary drove out in today's blizzard to run errands for his dad. My FIL is holding his own, he starts every conversation with his doctors by saying that he does not live alone, he lives with an advocate. This is not true, he does live alone and he will not let anyone else advocate for him, but he is stubborn and more mentally with it than a lot of people decades younger than his 87 years.
Gary returned home and tackled the driveway. While he was out there, the next door neighbor we like came by with pastry and cake. We have been keeping her front walk clear this winter because her husband (boyfriend?) is quite ill and because we are always shaking our heads at the other neighbors who never bother to clear the sidewalks. Connor (who can't shovel because of his face) has dibs on the cake.
Griffin has shaken the fever but he hasn't quite bounced back. He went to school yesterday because mid term exams are next week and he needed to know where he stood with exemptions and review work. He also wants to thank everyone for their concern, we still don't know what caused it although I'm bracing myself for another growth spurt - this one could push him taller than my 5'8".
I'm still knitting on the green handspun shawl - the rows are shorter so I expect to finish it sometime next week. I finished plying some of the purple BFL/silk laceweight:
The first four ounces made 860 yards of yarn - I'm hoping for at least 2200 yards once I've finished all 12 ounces - I should be just fine. Once the green shawl is done, I'll firm up my pattern choice.
Other than the above, I have a bit of news that I will be able to share (at last) with you tomorrow. I can't give you hints, but I can at least share a photo without snow:
Mmm, the lace weight yarn is gorgeous.
Glad to hear Griffin is feeling better, here's to a full recovery!
See you tomorrow! :^)

The yarn and the cactus are very pretty.
Glad your son is feeling better.
So nice of you to help your neighbor.

Love the yarn and the cactus.
Aren't bottom-up shawls great? You knit the long (endless) rows at the beginning when you've got maximum enthusiasm for a new project, then as the enthusiasm wanes (will this ever end?!?) the rows get shorter so it feels like you're zipping along.

He can't help dig out because of the surgery to his face last year that left him with no feeling in parts of his face, yes? Not because he's too pretty to shovel, right?
