I had three different needles stuck in my ankle today.
I also agreed to surgery, possibly in December, but probably in January. It will be a relief to get something more permanent done to fix the joint, although I'm not looking forward to a month on crutches and dressing around the ugly boot thing I'll have to wear. But if it gets me back to being able to wear pretty boots, I'm in.
I had a lovely discussion about spinning with my bone doc. He wanted to learn about the mechanics and all the steps in the process. I kept waiting for him to make a joke about it, but instead he listened intently and said he appreciated the information and had even more respect for "crafty people like you". I do think that doctors who fix battered bones are pretty crafty too.
I have been instructed to stay off my ankle as much as possible for a few days and if I have to spin, I am to use only my good foot.
That should not be necessary because I finished plying my singles:
They are much prettier in decent lighting and they are currently soaking. I think I have about 1800 yards split into 9 skeins. In a minute, I'm going to go hop between the two sinks while I drain them, find a boy to thwack them and then try to find a spot where the heat from the furnace will help them dry.
After that, I'm crawling into bed with an ice pack tucked into a wool sock.
Wrong kind of needles! But if that's what it takes to wear pretty boots........

I never thought of pulling my ice bag into a wool sock! Thanks for that trick. May your ankle feel better soon! Rest well!

I love when doctors ask questions and get to know what you need in your life.
Love the yarn. I really can't wait to see it in action.
Enjoy your icepack. xoxo

Ouch is right. Just reading about it hurts. I do feel good that the doctor things surgery will be helpful, but it's not real easy to stay off it and get anything done.

I am so sorry they hurt you today, but I am thrilled that there is good news coming out of it. Sounds like a lovely bone doc, btw.
LOVE the yarn, but you knew that.
Rest well.
