After 3 plus weeks, his room doesn't even smell like boy anymore:
Can you hear the echo? Even the dogs are afraid to go in there. But that will change in three days.
Three more days I can do.
It is a somewhat gloomy day here, lots of rain and I hear that we may have thunder later. #2 Son spent the day at the Falls on a summer program field trip, steady rain is not much of a problem at the Falls, so he had a great time and decided to treat The Mr. to the H. Potter movie this evening.
The Mr. had another work day of disappointing news. He is a special ed teacher in a public school "vocational" program for developmentally disabled young adults. I quote the "vocational" because their vocational training and support teachers have been eliminated and now, the mobility training position has been axed.
Because of changes to the summer program, he's been able to take his class out to work twice in two weeks for an hour each time. Last summer, he averaged 12 hours per week of work time for his students.
The summer program has "theme" weeks. Last week was "The 4th of July", although they started on the 6th. This week was "Summer and the Beach" and they didn't get past the parking lot, although The Mr. brought in sand art to do.
Next week is "Festivals" and they won't actually visit one, but The Mr. is making and effort:
He is now the proud owner of an authentic Chicken Wing Hat and he intends to do a mini version of Buffalo's Chicken Wing Fest in his classroom.
I swear, I'll bury him with that hat.
In knitting news, I hope you are sitting down, I am one toe away from finishing a sock. I am stunned, it's still daylight, all I have is a toe and I have 2 1/2 days to knit it's mate. And I have plenty of yarn. Is this the end of the sock drought at Chez FGK? Stranger things have happened.
And sweet but strange, I'll leave you with this: around the corner on Fix Road:
Hollyhocks in the drainage ditch.
Hmmmm. Maybe with the cutbacks, the Mr. can just take the students over to your neighbor's house for their party-of-the-week.

I love the hollyhocks! Thanks!

LMAO @ Cheryl's comment.
That is a boy's room? OMG, it's so awesome I want to move in it. If I'd had an armchair in my bedroom in high school I'm pretty sure I'd never have come out, and I think my mother would have had fewer resulting heart problems. :-D
WOO! SOCK!

I never would have guessed that's a chicken wing...
Don't let my girls see that room. They share one about half that size, and it is a mess to boot!

Genius! A Chicken wing hat!
I can't wait to see what the end of the sock drought brought. Spinning is keeping me from sock knitting as much as normal.
Yay, hollyhocks! I love 'em!

I hope someone videos the Mr. in the hat! Lovely hollyhocks. I think an armchair in a bedroom is an excellent idea and I think my mom would have been as happy as Carrie's.

That is quite possibly the cleanest boy's room I've ever seen. I have three of them myself, and when the oldest went to college, it took me two days just to shovel out the trash.
As for the boy smell...

I love how Cheryl thinks. Love the hollyhocks, too.
Not too sure about the hat.

LOVE! the wing hat. It is sad when programs get cut like that.
The room does look sad. You'll have to take a photo when it smells like boy again so we can see the difference. :D
Texas returned to Buffalo today and I showed him the maple sugar candy box with orders to FIND SOME!
