I swear, if Beth and I weren't busy with kids, husbands, house pets, parents, illness, work, etc., we'd be able to get paid for the stuff we come up with.
For instance, today I told her about the doctor's report of my tumor growth. Without missing a beat she said, "And I bet the tumor is in the shape of a wedding gown." She was of course referring to the summer/fall drama of the Too Small Wedding Dress.
I, without missing a beat myself, replied, "Yup, I guess I'll have to see if Vera Wang can give me a second opinion."
Between this, that and the other, I'm in much better spirits as we segue into the holidays. Tomorrow will be my last quietish day since the Mr. and boys are off school until the 2nd. Today I managed to organize my gifts but had forgotten that the wrapping paper was in the basement so I just shoved everything back into bags and let it be. I bet I'll be wrapping into the wee hours on Christmas Eve.
I did manage to get Oblique back on track. The sleeves are matching each other and the fronts are started. I decided to work them on separate needles but to alternate between them as the shaping moves along. I may even have decent pictures tomorrow but for tonight I'll show you my favorite Christmas decoration:
My late Godmother was an Occupational Therapist. I credit her for encouraging my crafting when I was young. She had 6 sons and one profoundly disabled daughter that kept her pretty busy but every year at Christmas she gave me one or two pieces of this creche. My Godfather built the manger and we displayed it on top of our old console TV set every December. When I married 16+ years ago, I told my mother that I would be taking possession of the creche. My mother balked at this idea and insisted that it was hers not mine and she would not part with it. Now my mother is generous to a fault and has never, ever denied me anything except this. I let it go since she was so adamant. Of course now we live together so it's a moot point. #2 Son and I had a good time unpacking it. He can have it someday but he'll probably have to wait me out too.
Beautiful creche! I'll say I always enjoy reading about other family quibbles. It's what makes families unique (NOT that you want to hear about mine!)

Gorgeous! I painted ceramics as a kid, and briefly as an adult. My favorites were nativities, though after I left the church I feel weird about displaying them. I must have made ten different versions (some multiple times for my mom and her sisters) over the years.

Do you have your hidden stash of cookies and chocolate to get you through the coming weeks of togetherness? Earplugs? Color cards for planning the next big project?
What a beautiful collection. I can see why your mother fought you for it.
