And the winner is....
Heather of Heatherknits! Congratulations, just e-mail me back and I'll have the book (and a surprise)on it's way to you.
Speaking of surprises, I came home to a surprise package yesterday.
From the dear wonderful knitter Janet. A beautiful Swallowtail Shawl made of Blue Sky Alpaca. The colors are perfect, very me (every second thing I wear is that exact shade of green). It's bigger than your average Swallowtail and it smells like heaven, a mix of floral and spice. Even though it hit 90 here today, I keep wrapping it around my shoulders.
Please click over and check out Janet's blog. Janet, a weaver and a knitter, writes a commentary that weaves life, knitting, yoga, travel, food and health into a delightful read. She has become a friend that I hope to meet in person someday.
For an update of sorts, here's the run down:
1) My brother has written again to let us know that he's been transfered to a less scary state prison (High Desert sounds like a good name for a spa) and that he'll be there until next March. Not the worst news.
2) My sister's visit was good. We picked out new lighting for the house and a few more paint colors. I did not have a knit gift ready for her birthday. Instead I opted for ticket for David Sedaris in October. I have a third ticket, maybe I can entice Janet to town with it.
3) My scarf for the ISE4 is again stalled. I've started the edging 3 times and ripped each out. It's on time out until the temperature goes down to Buffalo's normal May of 60ish.
4) After 3 weeks of telephone tag, the landscaper is bringing great big expensive plans tomorrow. I'll have more on that soon.
5) After 2 weeks of not getting a response to my calls, my formerly dear friend Jim has either fallen off the face of the earth, fallen in love, or clearly decided that he doesn't want to paint my living room. I'm giving him a few more days then hiring someone else.
6) I've been sewing. Dance and graduation dresses for my "future daughter in law". She and #1 Son were actually in the same room for 30 seconds today. Things are looking up. I figure I have about 10 years of slowly nudging them together. If she doesn't fall for #1 Son, I'll just adopt whomever she marries.
7) Still no clear news from the Dr. Tumor board is tomorrow so I may hear something then. If not, I have an appointment next Tuesday.
8) Mr. FGK has managed to put his back out. Way out. I must knit something for his chiropractor.
9) Speaking of knitting, I started another sweater. No surprise there.
It's Ariann from ChicKnits. Lovely, easy pattern. I'm using Rowan's Kid Classic in Nightly. My favorite yarn hands down. The color is much more navy. I'm still debating sleeve length.
10) All this warm weather has brought on a lush lovely spring. The pond has been full of interest:
We actually have two families, 11 gooslings in all. They first appeared on Mother's Day and have been under constant protection from the dogs and the occasional visit from this:
#2 Son thought it was a blue pelican but it is just a Blue Heron.

What a nice gift!
I am hoping the dr. has some good news for you....
P.S. the kid classic looks delish, as does ariann!

Oh, what a gorgeous shawl! I love that color green too, and those pinks really offset it. I hadn't thought to use different colors for the different segments of the design.
ps. Thank you - I feel very lucky! I will respond to your email...
